Ham can v.s. K&N

I won't use a foam filter on a Commando. My '69 S came to me with a foam element in the ham can. At least it originally was foam. There was nothing but crumbs in the air box and a black goo in the carbs. I suspect it was caused by a back fire as the carb slides were "glued" with the remains of the foam. YMMV.

I had one of those and watched it catch fire from an intake backfire. Put it out with a garden hose. My buddy's 72 burned to the ground for the same reason.

hopefully not stir pot but what good paper filter set-up for 34mm Mikuni kit supplied K&N? in the interest of increased flow sorta-like pill I take every day fo better peepee

Do you have a part number on the Pipercross?

C1153. Designed for Weber twin chokes I believe, hence wider spacing compared to Commando.

Here are pics of the Ramair one I’m trying next, it’s physically a bit smaller overall and the spacing is much closer to a Commando...

I bought this same Weber foam filter for use on a Aprilia RSVR with 52mm OD inlets and the holes are small allowing them to cover a much wider range of centres if the holes needed are bigger. Easy to cut out larger on one side.

You’re right there kommando. I did the same when I fitted mine and will do the same again when fitting the Ramair filter.

But I’m running 35mm FCRs, hence I don’t know what fitment would be like on Concentrics with velocity stacks I’m afraid baz.

Yeah, thanks. I'd like to see them fitted. What carbs are they going on?

waddaya want for 25 bucks lol. break out the scissors I guess.

Ten bucks 85c for the pair!
I will try them. That restrictive-looking slot has more cross sectional area than a 28 mm port.

Need a piece of radiator hose to make them fit.

I thought there was further up this thread some issue with foam type filters fragmenting into small bits after much oil and heat exposure?

A while ago my Commando was running badly. After checking out plugs, coils, Boyer, etc, turns out I had over-oiled the K@N filter, making the engine run rich.
