Fuel tank cap query

Rob,

thanks for posting interesting info about the caps.
Good luck with your new cap and do please report back when you receive and have inspected it.

So for comparison here are the issues I have :-

1.
When opened fully the cap fouls the paintwork on my Interstate tank.

2.
The cap housing has ragged edges along the bottom outside edge which should perhaps have been machined off before chroming.

3.
When fully closed the locking tab protrudes slightly above the cap housing instead of being properly flush with the housing.

4.
The locking tab doesn't fit squarely in the cap housing and has ragged edges facing the rear part.

5.
Plain washer was missing from the sealing disc screw (came supplied only with a spring washer which doesn't secure the sealing disc properly).

My original cap displayed none of the above defects, I may try to have the original damaged cap repaired and re-chromed .

I bought one of those cheap Chinese fuel caps to save a few bucks. It never sealed correctly and leaked fuel when full and ruined my pin striping. I bought the one AN offers and it fit perfectly with no leaks. Every time I cheap out to get “the better” deal, I end up screwing myself. Get the one from AN and save yourself some trouble.
