The JPN was looking kinda interesting with the PR seat...

Painting today but it didn’t come out so well. The gas tank alligatored and I don’t know why. I should have either waited for the second coat, it was still too cold out or there was some oil on the tank.

Oh well, it’s back to wet sanding next week after it’s totally dry

I did manage to get the fairing and seat bracket installed. I had to make a piece for the seat but it’s going to make it strong. Also, the fairing bracket wasn’t too bad. I test fitted everything and now it’s all tightened down. I have to admit, the bracket looked a little shaky, but when installed and the fairing is tightened down, it fits nice and tight. I’m going to have to add some rubber separators to not crack the fiberglass.

That faring bracket looks like it should have an extra upper triangulation, that’s been cut off?

It doesn’t look strong enough to me in its current form...

You’re 100% correct.

The bracket from clubman racing looks strong, but it 300 bucks. It’s a little steep for me.

I’d take the money you’re gonna spend on those headlamp brackets and give it to a local welder... all he needs to do is weld in a bit of steel plate... it’ll take him about 15 minutes all in...

Do you mean a piece of triangle steel where the upright of the bracket is?

I could weld that in myself. Good suggestion. I’ll cancel the brackets.

Plan B and even better. I added the final piece from the bracket that came with the fairing. It attaches to the bottom front of the fairing. It attaches the upright and it’s anchored through the center of the fork mount tube.

I need a long bolt, but this makes it very very strong.

Because I’m crazy, I mocked it up.

I need to adjust the front fairing so it’s level and not pointing down. You can see the alligator in the paint, need some more wet sanding and painting.

It will look better when the seat upholstery arrives. I think I may go white decal with a black outline.

So after mocking it up, I tried sitting on it.

That’s a tough position. Practically lying on the tank. You actually become part of the bike. That can’t be comfortable, but it’s a racer, designed for speed.

I won’t be doing any long trips on this bike, I have my duc for that!

Looks good. You might be surprised just how long 10 minutes might feel in that position! ;)

Maybe bring your bars up a bit?

70 tomorrow. Call in sick and keep spraying?

I wish I could. I need another week of wet sanding before I paint again.

You may want to try a good sealer primer this time around to prevent nasty things from happening to your paint such as crackling just in case there's some compatibility issues with underlying layers.

If you angle it up some more in the rear you might be able to bring the bars up a touch too?
