fav artists in different genres of music?

I am not very big on country & western, but I like JJ Cale and John Fogerty and Jerry Garcia. And also this :

 
Must have been mid sixties, I was about 11 or 12, in winter we used to go to the local outdoor ice skating ring.
The boys speed skating round the outside, the girls (and some not-so-boys, we thought at least..) on hockey skates in the center.
In the evenings, the rink opened up the "sound system", and played the same limited number of songs every evening.
The crispy cold, the sound of skates and chatter, faint lights, friends, the music, all brought about a special atmosphere that is all part of times gone by now.
3 songs in particular entered my ears there and got stuck ever since.







 
Saw Carlos back in early 70’s one of the better shows I have road tripped to see , a new guy opened for Carlos , this guy also had great band and he could sing , performed all original material (his) .... his name was Bob Seger , you know , that other guy from Detroit ....

I saw a show in New Haven in 71 where Yes opened for Grand Funk Railroad. Guess which band was better.
 
Always liked GFR …. Yes was beyond me …. Own no music from either at this point , dah
 
I hear you and prolly would agree if I gave them some listening time …. I remember driving around with Harin Padmanathan in his family’s new Malibu listening to them over a long night …. Harin our Valedic. in HS made his fortune with the development of a very popular little blue pill for men , whom suffered from a very personal performance problem , can’t for the life of me remember the name of that pill …. I do remember drinking too much wine before a dance with him and watching police sit him down to get his phone # to call his parents for pickup …. a long time ago …

Bob Seeger and the Silver Bullet Band, along with Todd Rundgren and Elvin Bishop played at the Silverdome in Pontiac shortly after the completion of the building. As I recall, this concert was the first one at this venue, as previous big inside music events were held at Cobo Hall. 3 of my friends and I managed to get tickets and made the trek over to Pontiac for the show on Saturday. Being farm boys from Essex County and wanting to be guaranteed a parking spot in a stadium which seats 60000 people, thought it would be better to arrive the day before and camp out in the parking lot. So through the tunnel we went, 2 in the front of one of the Dad's pickups and 2 in the back, through Detroit and out to the suburbs. Guess what. We were the first ones there, and nobody showed up till the next day. It was a sold out show, and with general admission tickets for the field, we herded in. I have never in my life up to then(16) had seen so many people, and elbow to elbow to boot. Anyways, it was my first of many great excursions to the Motor City for live music.

I saw Todd Rundgren in Liverpool in about 76, he jumped up on a piano , got his guitar lead all snagged up and came tumbling down. He really hurt himself you could see, but fair play he carried on with his act. Respect.
