At 33.5 mm, did those carbs have an oversized slide?

Anyone who hasn't been to Bonneville speedweek should make a point of doing so, surreal landscape and so many smart people and so much eye candy.

No, they still had the standard slides. That's why I couldn't go any larger than 33.5 mm.

Is anyone going in 2015? SCTA's web site says it's Aug 8-14. With it being only 5 hours from my digs, I think I'll go just to "be there".

'was there in the '90s. What a trip!

I doubt if I'll be there. We've been running for the last 8 years at the AMA event, which is after the SCTA Speedweek. It used to be called the BUB meet, but now it's become the "Bonneville Motorcycle Speed Trials". The SCTA Speedweek is a spectacular event for spectators, with lots of fast cars and bikes, and some really interesting people, but we like the motorcycle only flavor of the AMA event. I'd do both if I could afford to, and if I had the energy for both, but I can't and don't. I've done the SCTA World Finals meet, which is the last Bonneville meet of the year, once, and really enjoyed it, but it's not as exciting for spectators, because the turnout is smaller. That's great for us, because we can get more runs, and we'd like to do it again. We had planned to this year, until we saw the cracks in the crankcase after the AMA meet.
