EXHAUST PIPE REPAIR?

Can exhaust / head pipes be repaired at 'reasonable' cost? I have a set of flexable cross-over Dunstal head pipe with a few minor dings. I'd like to renovate and re-chrome them. Am I pissing into the wind? The original Dunstal [anti] silencers look to bunged up to repair.

The carbon contaminates the plating baths so they are not liked by the platers, would have thought new ones would be cheaper if available.
