I once bought a near original TZ350G Yamaha. There is always something about factory-produced racers which is very attractive. I'd love to own that Yellow Peril.

I assume you mean timing cover!!
Not "primary" cover
Cheers

What can you do wrong with a Commando ? Everything is very straight forward.

I nearly feel off the chair :D

Did you ever wonder why Commando's are still popping up out of decades long storage (civilised abandonment) with one or two previous owners and 40 or 50 years after they rolled off the show room floor.
Straight forward until something goes wrong and even then the straight bit has a curve.

Its not to late to move that Seeley on or do a trade deal on a Commando 850.

It’s actually more comfortable than it looks. But you are definitely laying over the tank.
Physio lady told me ,way more back pain complaints from the guys who Ride bikes sitting straight up , she say a lean forward into the wind is best for your body .....she got 40 yrs on the job and I believe her advice

I've ridden several in that position, so let her hop her happy ass on one and get to it after a lifetime of dealing with a ruined spine. Lumbar okay with them. The cervical damn near paralyzes me with shoulders and neck into that position. I'm not supposed to get on any of them, but I don't care about doctors opinions when it comes down to riding. I'm doing it because I want to.

For an old geezer like me with no help, stripping and building the engine in the frame is the way to go. Also, more secure for breaking loose the crank and cam nuts. I've never had much of a problem getting the head to slide on, be sure to use rubber bands to hold the rocker arms into the pushrod cups and then snug it down with the center nut. With assorted deep sockets and extensions I can torque all the bolts in the frame that you can get a torque wrench on anyway.

You still have to lug the bottom end into the frame after splitting the cases.

That’s what I had planned but then I dropped the nefarious bolt into the open crankcase so the engine came out so I could turn it upside down.

In the end it was easier to build the engine on the bench and hard, but not impossible to heave it into the frame. With help, mind you.

Well when it's all said and done, from what I've had my eyeballs fed here, you're going to have a very nice 'Proddy'. Actually those were the ones which dreams were made of back in the early 70's>. I recollect having visions of one then myself roaring through the curves as onlookers gasped & wrung their hands in anticipation...Whoa! Going right into Norton porn there.

Slow down there, big guy! Keep those heart meds handy. :D

See what one little ole motor-less frame can do when you put up a pic...Imagine if the boys in your neighborhood should get a peek at the completed machine without parental guidance to pull them back from the abyss....It could drive Norton prices up by a hundredfold within ten years.
It does look to be a labor of love.

Like a lot of us it was a picture of a Yellow Peril that drove us to our passion for Nortons. That and those girls.
