Emgo rear brake shoe spring issue

I agree. I always (40+ years?) regarded them as low grade crap for cheapo prices.
My, how times change.
The horrid trash I see marketed today (with no markings whatsoever on the part or package) take the junk parts biz to a different level. Kinda like the devil you know.
I have never supported these budget parts makers (you generally get rubbish with poor quality control and a piss poor fit ..I'd rather wait a bit longer if needed and sourse quality parts...that fit function properly and last...

Thanks Joe. Was it a Commando you installed the Emgo rear shoes on?
damn, old age kickin' in. honestly, can't remember what shoes i installed on the commando. i did install emgo rear brakes on the spitfire. overall, i've used emgo parts several times - brakes, clutch, sprocket, cables, handlebars, electrical pieces/parts, shocks, etc, and for the most part, never a problem with emgo. i even bought an emgo gas tank for the commando. i'm in the process of painting it, but overall, appears to be a quality assembly. one issue with the gas tank - had to do the final metal finishing and prep prior to my initial coat of primer.

I use a pair of EMGO headers when dialing in a rebuilt motor. They are hanging on the shop wall for the next project.

Update, the EMGO's had very good friction coefficient, stopped way better than the OEM ever did.
Far better castings, lack of excess flashing and also the pivot holes drilled square & to size, which is more than I can say about the Fodo's.

Then, a few thousand mile later, I experienced inconsistant freeplay, varied a LOT (1/2" to 2") back & forth.

I went in for a look, at tire time.
Found three problems:

A) threaded anchor pivot post was very loose
Washed clean, aligned, loctited & tightened

B) threaded cam pivot post loose
Same resolve

C) one piece axle was not TIGHT ENOUGH, allowing the backer plate to move under torque.

Assembled RFT, to compensate for lack of original of stub axle ability to properly secure. At possible speedo drive spacer peril.
