That rating, 20 A at 300v is a JET standards/testing rating and is for ac volts at 50 Hz in Japan, so need a derate of the current for dc volts, these connectors were designed for ac wiring so the specs were written in reference to ac volts / current.

An interesting destructive test of Wago and other connectors here. So I think they are safe to use in our application.
