While I'm tackling the belt drive and clutch bearing I'm noticing blackish oil in the chain case. I've got a new seal and circlip (no sign of an old circlip) and wondered is there a painless way to remove it ?? Roy.

Circlip? What bike?

Pick to remove.

Threebond to glue in the new one.

Use one of these to remove the seal without dismantling the cases. I like the metal surround type seal over the plastic surround type.

Wrap electrical tape over the keyway and use oil when installing the new seal.
Put it in with a box key and locktite bearing seal round the outer seal. Oiled the inner seal rubber and the woodruff key was out ? Should work. Quite delicate work to extract the old one. Thanks to all.

It's not the woodruff key but the sharp edges of the keyway that can cut the seal.

I recently replaced one that wasn't that old ...which was seeping from around the OD side of the seal...A light smear of JB sealer before fitting around the outer edge fixed that...
Dans recomendation to place tape over the key way before fitting ....👍
