I was interested in the topic about the chromed disc. When I started racing the Seeley I used a single chromed Suzuki disc with an AP caliper with asbestos pads. It was useless and I even ended up in the 'death dive' in one race. I kept the bike upright and on the bitumen, however by the time I stopped it, I'd run very wide and very close to the edge. I was about to stand it up and run off. I then fitted carbon pads and it was worse. I ended up with two smaller suzuki discs made of hi-speed steel, two AP calipers with the old-style asbestos pads and the master cylinder of diameter to suit the single caliper. The brake is now excellent - probably too much. What interests me is what modern disc and pad combinations are effective with the Lockheed AP calipers ?
I know cast iron discs have been used, however a friend was killed at bathurst when his discs exploded off an RG500 Suzuki - they'd been replaced with a low grade of cast iron.
