Considering a 961 Cafe purchase.

And here I thought it was a pretty decent, very quick bike!
But maybe it's understandable given what you 961 owners have gone through.

This is a “Norton” forum. What bike do you think will get the most love here when compared to other bikes?
I don’t own a Thruxton and never have, nor have I claimed to ridden one. But the guys here that have are expressing their opinions just like 900RS has of his “25 minute” ride on the Norton.

Some here have owned the Thruxton and gave their reported views as a owner and compared it to the Norton they own.
900RS doesn’t own a Thruxton and doesn’t own a Norton.

You’re being sensitive to the whole topic and I’m sorry if your feelings are hurt, but I do own a TFC Triumph Bobber, And I have seen the TFC Thruxton and all the other Triumph bikes in person but not ridden them. No where did I give my opinion of the Thruxton performance, but if asked again, the Norton is of higher detail. I’m sorry you disagree and that’s fine, but facts are facts.

Now if we’re talking engine performance, I’d say my TFC bobbers engine is a better performer than my Norton’s.

Yes the Thruxton is leaps and bounds better than the 961 in every measurable area, and MP3 music has it's place (I guess). My Thruxton R is moving on today after 5 years of ownership - I had bought the 916 after the Thruxton R and I echo the above sentiment completely. Character TxR=4, 961=10, Sound TXR=9, 961=10, Looks TXR=10, 961=10, Technology TxR=10 961=7 - there is just something "better" about the 961 that the numbers don't show..

The TxR didn't get ridden in 2019 due to the pandemic and getting ready for the 2021 season I felt no reason to insure & plate the TxR, my leaning is toward the 961 for sure.

My 961 did undergo a full engine blueprint, sensor coil upgrade, ECU remap and has open megas - it is running so much better and now with handlebars (Ducati Monster) instead of the clip-ons is a joy to ride.

When my Thrux was sold I went indoors and made a coffee, had a cig then got on with business as usual. My 961 sold today (I did say that it wasn't necessarily a keeper).... I sat in the garage with her late last night after the final wipe down... we shared a beer... reminisced a little... I plugged in the trickle charger and gently ran my fingers down along the tank, seat and... I will leave it there lol
 
Do be brief BT, there’s no youngsters on this forum! I’m betting there are very few that don‘t hobble for a while when rising from the prolonged seated position!!. Commiserations Mx, gone but not forgotten!
