Commando will not accelerate

I torn down my carbs when I first got my bike and noted the position of the clip on the needle. Put in new jets and needle and repositioned the clip. I couldn't get the bike to develop any power. It turns out the needles had been dropped down by the previous owner to accamodate wear in the jets. Since mine where new I had to move the clip down (needle up) to get proper flow. Those needle jets come into play during any acceleration and thus that mix is pretty important.
