Hi
I have a Commando 850 mk2a 1975 and would like to change the engine number ID plate that is attached to the headstock on the bike, I have a new one that has been sent out from RGM motors and needs to be stamped up with the numbers. Has anyone any experience getting the old one out and fixing in the new?.

Also the old plate that is fixed to the bike is a little worn but has 2 squares showing engine number 318### and in the other square box looks like 8 74. It looks like the 74 must be manufacture date 1974 but not sure what the 8 is with the plate being scuffed around this area.

It would be a great help If anyone with a bike the similar age could advise me what the plate should look like.

Thanks Neil.

8 / 74 is month/year.

You need to grind off the riv-screw heads (rivets), then pop out the stubs and hammer in new riv-screws.
