Over the weekend I went to start my 74 850 and it wouldn't. It just went buzzzzz. So on Sunday I sent Matt at CNW an email asking about the issue as my bike has one of the CNW starter kits installed. Within minutes he got back to me, I wasn't expecting a response before Monday. He was aware of the problem and would send out a replacement sprag clutch on Monday. No charge.
You can't ask for better service than that.

At least you received a response. Been waiting on a update for build #135 since August of 2019.

John As many know on Access Norton, I designed and manufacture the CNW Electric Starter. The sprag on the earlier units were an 18 tooth sprag. We had quality problems with this sprag, and it had a very week cage. We upgraded to a 14 tooth sprag with a much more robust cage (you most likely see your existing sprag come out in pieces when you install your new one) You will be receiving the new 14 tooth sprag. This upgraded sprag also comes with our Mark III sprag upgrade kit that Matt is selling

As a general note on some comments made in this thread. There are multiple mentions of the starter system costing so much more in the EU and UK. Yet the Alton and CNW systems are competitively prices in the US. Makes me question the "free trade" aspect of commerce between the EU/UK and US. Maybe we need to have tariffs or custom charges on EU/UK products. I wonder how many Alton starters or Andover parts would be sold in the US if we started putting similar customs charges on those products.

Final Comment: Matt is the sole reseller of most of our products because of his absolute great customer service. If you cannot reach Matt, then you are certainly not trying very hard

When you look at what you get included in the kit (full belt drive kit as well as e start kit) it really is not particularly expensive. And that’s even before you start talking about the quality of the kit.
Frankly, it is remarkable value for money.

Come on! That's not Matts style.. Somehow you have not correctly connected. Try again.
Not to be misunderstood. I have communicated with Matt on and off throughout the build process. I was looking for a photo update so I could post pictures of my build. (I'm new to the forum) August of 2019 was the last photo update. I Just got off the phone with Matt. Apparently he has had a e-mail server issue. I hate calling him because I know he's busy trying to finish the builds in the shop to focus more on parts. I normally just send out an email which he responds to when all is working. The bike will have CNW electric start. All good. Hope to be riding soon. :)

Glad to hear this. I have two CNW builds, and both of them took longer than original quoted. But I was very, very happy with the final builds. My 119 build had the first production electric start on it and is still running great after 3 years. Can wait to see the pics of your build

Well, blah. I'm sitting here looking at the new sprag that Matt sent me a while back. 18 teeth. When did you guys upgrade to the 14 tooth sprag and how can I get one?

That's good to hear the electric start is standing the test of time. Sure beats the old kickstart. #119 is a Sharp looking machine! I will try to post some photos soon. Still learning this platform.

Eddie,
I fully agree! I still think that is the best money I have ever spent.
