Correct, chains are cheap when compared to the hassle of changing sprockets properly in pairs, so change the chain early in its intended life, be that short or long but preferably long, and save the sprockets.
I've been using the rivet link DID chains. Not sure if a Masterlink type would clear.
The DID vx 530 has a pin length of 23.4mm.
The older DID I have on the Commando has a pin length of around 26 mm.
There is also an RK 530 sealed made for classic bikes with little clearance. It's even narrower than the DID vx 530.

Hi Torontonian,
What are you referring to when you say "all 3 Iwis chains that fit a Commando"? Are you referring to different grades of Iwis or different lengths etc?
