Posting for a friend. He thinks the old lady who gave him the "bike" said it was a 66 Constellation. He doesn't remember as it was over 20 years ago. She supposedly only drove at the church on Sundays.

Just teasing John, he/we know nothing about Royal Enfields. Where do you find the VIN?, the picture posted was from the left side of the engine case.

👍

I know nothing about them either. Friend of my brother had one back in the day.

Interesting bike and a bit different to all the Triumphs, BSAs and Nortons about at the time.

It's pretty crazy looking. Did you notice the 3 foot pegs on the left side? Plus I guess the old broad must have added the crash bar? "Hail Mary Bar" Where's the VIN located?

Was one in one of the classic bike mags . ( A Mercan Mag , I think )
Resto. maybe earlier - Tho Build date & sales year likely x plains it .

He should jus dissasemble & clean it . Inspect & replace only unserviceable trash .
To much bling and bang makes your eyes water . The olde ' only rignle once ' carries its authenticity & ' aura '' or whater you want to call the ' as it came ' persona .

Rather than a overpolished show queen conversation item . Plus alloy disperses heat best dull .

IS THAT A TRIUMPH BESIDE IT ? .

It looks like a 1964/65 U.S. spec Mk 1 Interceptor. They stopped making Constellations around '63. The Interceptor has stronger crankcases & the heads & cranks are also different. Does the engine number start with YB?

Matt, thanks for the link. Yes that's a unit 750 that was put together with parts laying around. Not enough to restore, so it's a hardtail "bobber". My buddy always used to buy whatever he saw if it was a deal. That's how I got this 74 from him.

Matchless, thanks, I'll have to check on the vin. Where would it be located? Same place as Norton and Triumph? The bike is not near me so I have to tell the owner where to look.

The frame number is on the left side of the headstock. The engine number is on the left crankcase below the barrel face. I can see it from your photo, but can't make it all out. Also, the numbers don't match on these bikes. I think maybe later S2 bikes matched.

Matchless, the # below the slotted screw on the case is 15869. I told my buddy where to look for the frame #. I will post when I hear from him. Thank you.

Hi Matchless, The # on the left side of the headstock is 62733

I don't know what year that frame number is. All the S1 bikes seem to start with a 1. The highest number I've seen starts with 2, but on a S2 model.
If you need more information on Interceptors try REInterceptor @Groups.io. Lots of useful stuff & knowledgeable people on there.
