Broken bones - How are you doing?

I was wondering how messed up we all are. I have broken a few bones in my time. I am 60 years old now and osteoarthritis is kicking in. How many bones have you broke? If you broke same bone twice that counts as 2. Here is mine:

Nose:
Broke 3 times.
1 -Playing rugby in England.
2 -Hit a tree face first, trying to make a Royal Enfield 250cc do things its not designed to do.
3 -Defending myself I had to take broke nose.

Ribs:
1 -4 ribs on left side, tripped on dog toy and crashed into a pine coffee table. Vino related.
2 -2 ribs on right from Royal Enfield tree accident.

Right Hand:
1 - Smashed first finger to bits and broke it, when metal boat hatch fell on it.
2 - Second finger stamped on with rugby boot and metal stud broke it.
3 - Second finger defending myself (pub fight).

Left Hand:
1 - Thumb, closed in hinge of a car door.
2 - First finger got caught in Suzuki chain and chopped the end off.
3 - Second finger got caught in Suzuki chain and chopped the end off.
4 - Thumb, smashed with club hammer while getting wheel bearings out (missed).

Lower back:
1 - Hit Ford Capri at high speed while riding 750 Commando. Broke vertebrae.

Right Knee:
1 - Broke it during 750 Commando accident.
2 - Broke it again, was swept across a sailboat (130 ft) by a huge sail and smashed it to bits on a metal thing.

Right Ankle:
1 - Smashed by a hard hockey ball
2 - Jumping ditch on a Yamaha DT 175, landed wrong. Compound break.
3 - Carrying a baby a missed a step and had to do a rapid twist, compound break.
4 - on the piss related, uneven pavement.

19 breaks total, possibly more.

I think that's all the bones I broke. Arthritis is worst in my back and ankle.
What are you all taking and doing to ease the arthritis? I try not to take anything, but every now and then take over the counter pain meds. I go to acupuncture and it really helps.

I thought this would be an interesting topic. Post your bone breaking story. I think Yves will win maybe?

Cheers, Jerry

.
There's more but I've got writers cramp.

I don't know but blaisestation would also be close to Jerry in injury wise, be hard to pick who is the most unlucky of both, its a wonder you both are still walking not only riding, scares me just thinking about all these injuries.

Last summer, minding my own business riding on a beautiful Sunday morning, my HD and I had a very unfortunate meeting with a Pickup truck. First mishap in 50 years on two wheels.
Both wrists, open book pelvic fracture, and vocal cord. I now have a plethora of pins and plates. Prior to this, a wrist years ago ( fell off a ladder) and my left hand.
Not a contest I would want to win. Hope everyone came out OK. I am still recovering somewhat. Would like to compare notes with anyone recovering from a pelvic fracture. PM me if interested. Be safe everyone.

I am feeling very good considering. Main issues are starting the 750 due to ankle, knee or back. Once it’s going though it’s great therapy. I find the twisties really help with the back exercise. The cold weather does not help. I am definitely aching more since we moved to higher altitude at 6300 ft. I am done with interstate trips on my Harley and will be selling it next year. I will probably get a smaller, lighter Harley. I am always on and off with selling the 750. I ride much more carefully these days as don’t want any more breaks.

Sorry Jerry, but blaisestation gets my vote. It's the least I can do for someone so unfortunate.
I hope both of you manage the lasting aches and pains associated with these injuries.

It has been 55 years since I got "throwed" by the Atlas and suffered my break .... the pain still persists, but a glass of single malt scotch helps.

Slick

Which lighter Harley you got in mind Jerry ?

My Dyna Low Rider S is one of the lightest big twins, but it’s still a great big hulk of a thing compared to my Limey Lightweights. I’m always on and off about selling the Harley for that reason.

But when the sun is shining and it’s out on the road, it is a lovely thing to ride.

First world problems eh ?!

I have not decided yet. I like the Harley motor. I am also thinking about one of these for my modern bike or a Guzzi:

More than most, not as many some. Still more than I care to count or recall.
My oh my, some of you are way out there.
A little side note.
Shared a Ski Lift with an older gent when I was younger, in my 50's. We chatted, he was somewhere in is 80's.
I commented how I hope I can still be doing it at his age. Big chuckle, 'let me tell you sonny, take care of yourself because every injury you have ever had, broken bones, pulled joint whatever will come back to remind you. One more thing, (as he reached for his belly), you feel this coming on, exercise, go for a walk, work it off.' Then we exited the lift and I watched him ski off.....
A moment in life that I cherish....

I have 99 cu inch Sporty I could sell you, it might help you add to your broken bone list! LOL I'm still looking for someone to put an 850, they are available from S&S, in a 650 Royal Enfield, it would have to be interesting
