Better front disc brakes for 1774 850 Commando

A couple of years ago I did the Miles resleeve/ss lines/ferodo pads. Made a major improvement. About a year ago I went to the Brembo MC from CNW. THAT'S an order of magnitude better and makes the front brake effectiveness totally dependent on how sticky the front tire is. I highly recommend it (with SS lines/Ferodo pads).

as many of you suggested me, I want to exchange my master cylinder brake with a 13 mm unit looking as the original and moreover changing the caliper pistons with stainless steel

Of course this is to retain the stock look: where would you suggest to buy each?

I got mine from Fred and Ella Eaton at Old Britts.

CNW has an expensive but a well thought out package based on Brembo. I bought both the front and rear systems as I have a Mark 3, but I would keep the rear drum if I had a 74 or older.

I think Norvil is selling the modern Master Cylinders that use a adapter plate to retain your stock switch gear again. This leaves it looking stock but gives you a real front brake. I saw it in the on line catalog last week.

Andover Norton sell the brembo m/c .... Keeps the original switch gear, disc and caliper.Stops real good.

I spent the last few weeks investigating the subject and this is what I've learnt:

-the MC is the real issue as everyone is telling you. you need one with a 12 or 13 bore.Two choices (probably many more...):
a) get the stock MC resleeved. some say it can be dangerous, but it will keep the stock look
b) get a new one that looks "almost" like the stock one: andover-norton grimeca MC, also available at MickHemmings

-then go for the Platinum Ferodo Pads.

This should make your bike brake (at least this is what I think should make your bike brake, as I've not yet fitted the above to my bike...)
You could also move on to a larger rotor and racing caliper, but for what I read around this does not change much (or almost anything). But it looks good!

I've just ordered the above spares, will let you know how it goes once done.

Nope. Just keeps them from rusting in the bores.

Has anyone directly compared the actual braking performance/feel of Brembo MC as supplied by CNW with the Grimeca MC supplied with the AN kit that allows use of oem switchgear? I would be interested in the Grimeca so as to allow oem switchgear but not if the braking performance is not equal to the Brembo.
