The Iwis triplex, a lesser animal that the Iwis big pin merc timing chain, a more standard offering with smaller pins.

I have the IWIS better quality timing chain.
Does this primary Triplex work well in the Norton primary ?
Is there a link if it does ?

Fired up the MK 111 after 2 days of rains. Full choke , 5 P.M. heat of 8 C. Shut her down after 5 mins. Let that heat soak into the motor . Helmet , coat , winter gloves. Drove around the hood up to 5 K. R.P.M. to check out the new chain and the new clutch mod. ( since I was in there with total tear down of primary ) of adding an interior plate to achieve an easier clutch pull. It worked , no slippage. Nice short ride dodging snowflakes. Chain works fine too , no leaks.

I have been running Duplex on my mk3 for 5years with out issues
By any chance, have you noticed whether the oil holes in the rollers of your Iwis duplex are on the inside run, or the outside? Mine (the one that was worn out at 3000 miles) has the oil holes on the outside run.The pins on mine were badly worn - supposedly the strongest part of the chain's design. I called Jason at The Chain Man, and he immediately sent a replacement FOC, even though it was Andy who supplied the original. He sounded genuinely surprised at hearing of the rapid stretching - "first ever" were his words. The new replacement also had the oil holes on the outside run. I would have thought the oil holes would be better placed on the inside run of the chain, so oil wasn't flung out of the holes under centrifugal force as the chain rotates.

I recently purchased an IWIS "HD Merc Spec" (supposedly same HD specifications as Mercedes Benz cam chain) cam chain from Jason the Chain Man. I had to wait a while on the chain since Jason was having difficulty getting the Merc chain from his German supplier due to Brexit and Covid. The Merc Spec cam chain is definitely more heavy duty (and thus heavy) than the chain that it replaced.

Hi
Sorry I can’t remember, there are two grades of the duplex chain I bought the HD for my Mk3 and my t160 both have been fine. The chain is running in Dextron 2 in the Norton filled to the level plug
