One of the 3 footrest bolts on my 74 is longer than the others. That's where the ground wire goes, on the back side of the z-plate with a washer and nut. NOT under the zener. You want the z-plate to be a heatsink for the zener, I always put silicone thermal compound under it.

I can't find a flasher relay in my parts box or on the OB electrical page.

Still not sure about those 2 brown/blue (or green) up on top left.

Brown/green [NG] is for the tail lamp. I would also expect to find a brown [N] (brake light) wire and a green/red [GR] for the L/H direction indicator somewhere in amongst the harness wires?

Also, on the right side just below the oil tank there's a four pronged socket. I have a plug (fuse?) that fits in there but It had a hole in the middle for a securing screw that isn't in that socket. Know what's going on there?

The original accessory power point and plug (brown/blue and red wire) would be a two-pin plug and socket?
Basically, the power point isn't really worth the bother.

TY, I'll change that next chance I get.

Wow... that almost wraps up the wiring. Only thing left is I've got a fairly heavy gage white wire and brown wire together coming out of the headlight that's kind of throwing me.

This pic shows the headlight connection

The solid white by my index finger, the white brown my thumb is touching , and the solid brow all just connect straight to the main wire harness connection, to their like colors.

Cheers

These are spade connectors. Usually wires that connect into the harness are round plug type connections. These are coming out of the back of the headlight and stretch about 2 feet or so.

Oh those ones, let me double check, but I believe they are the front break switch

Yes they connect to the front break switch on the master cylinder

Thanks brother... I'm running out of things to do... getting really close. I guess it's time to get a battery and start testing stuff out.

I wish I was that close, :(
Still waiting for my wheels, speedo and tach to come back from shop.

I still have problems sitting for any length of time after getting my wheels back from the Harley conman who put them together for me. Did a good job on them but charged 600 bucks to build two wheels and mount and balance my tires... labor only... oh, he did provide the inner tubes. Harley shops have their customers pre-programmed to expect a fking before they even walk in the door. And they get very adamant when someone disapproves of their highway robbery. Problem was this guy was the only one I could find who built wheels. Said he'd have about an hour and a half a wheel at 80 bucks an hour. I figure, OK.. I'll have 300 in the wheels by the time he mounts the tires. I hate Harley crooks. Hope you're treated better. How's your clutch doing? Are you going with the extra plate?

Just checking the stack as we speak.
Now just a note about the commando front disk wheel, it is about the second hardest wheel to build if you are not familliar with them, so double check he lined up the front wheel right.
Will get back to you about clutch

Yes, I will give the guy credit... he did a good job. I brought my old wheels in and he measured the offsets then put the hubs on new rims that I brought in. They spin true right down the center.... front disk brake sits dead center in the caliper. The guy's still going to hell though.
