So recently I installed a new Lucas wiring harness as the old one was a mess. The new harness was formatted for a rectifier / zener diode. I've wired in a new Podtronics instead of the rectifier / zener. Installed the positive ground battery and everything works with the engine off. headlight hi / lo, speedo /tach light, horn, rear running / brake light. I noticed that when I turn the lights on the ammeter doesn't register a discharge. It's new and it isn't stuck. Relative to the new harness the only thing that isn't connected is a ground wire meant to connect to the zener and the brown/ white wire that would go on the zener as well. the black wire coming of the Podtronics attaches to the brown / white wire that goes to the main switch and to the ammeter. Does this unused harness zener connection and ground need to be connected to something?

The Brn/Wht to the Zener does not need to connect to anything but must be insulated. The Red to the Zener does not need to be connected *IF* you have a red wire to the frame somewhere.

If the headlight come on and the ammeter does not move, you are either miss-wired or the ammeter is bad.

Normally, battery neg => Brn/Blu -> Fuse -> Brn/Blu -> Ammeter -> Brn/Wht -> Master Switch

What part number was on the harness?
