I believe like most snake oils they just pull it out of solution like common water, but then it's in the bottom of the tank awaiting the call for mischief. I should have used a different term I guess. Was reading on procedure to remove the stuff last night(easy, simple, fast), but you remain faced with having to add octane booster to replace that which the now removed ethanol provided. These are the cards dealt & I'm playing them. I believe that I'll just give up, burn it, accept what it may or may not do to my motor & carbs, although drain my tank-fuel lines-carbs when the bike is going to sit for a period.

Would dangling pieces of liver in the tank sort of process the ethanol out of the fuel?

Like boas & pythons live food works best....mice or juvenile rats should do nicely in a pinch. Chickens & rabbits when they get large, but they'll be far gone from the tank on their own by then.

The needles are nonmagnetic and made of lighter material than steel, ss or iron.
I would guess they are of an Al/bronze like Ampco 45 or similar.
The originals are very hard and longwearing.
I've got a bucket full of worn out carbs and wouldn't hesitate to use the needles from those carbs in a new carb.

Interesting conclusion on ethanol. It also may be a combination of that, and the moisture in the atmosphere as the humidity can vary from 25 to 95% as it can vary from day to day and as the oxygen is being sucked in all the while the engine is running. . . .

The only sure fire way is to have this laboratory tested. . . . .

I always turn off fuel flow a few blocks before shut down in order to leave minimal amount in bowls.
wonder if that simple procedure helps avoid this and other short term storage problems.

From my read late vehicles, besides using resistant materials, have pretty much systems sealed from the atmosphere preventing the ethanol from separating out(at least slowing greatly) due to humidity. Older ones(bikes, outboards, snowmobiles, mowers, etc.) do not.
From now on I shall just: R D S ( RUN, Drain, Store )…...I believe this shall address concerns I have in this area....Right now concerned with a vibration slowly developing in my footrests.....Tiger chases tail.
