Amal Premier Pilot Jet position

I originally had 17 pilot jets in my 750, even though it ran well there was always a sense of a "fluffy" response on light to 1/4 throttle, and when we had some really hot days (yes we do get them on this side of the pond) the hot starting always required it to be tickled & the running was just wasn't sweet. in addition the best idle was achieved at just under a full turn out on the air screws
I have been running most of the summer on 19 jests and its a vast improvement in all aspects with the air screw 1&3/8 turns out

I couldn't get it to run long enough to warm up. It seemed like it was just running long enough on what I flooded the carbs via the plunger with.

If you press the ticklers again when the engine begins to falter then that will often help to keep the engine running.

Temporarily screwing the throttle stop screws in by about a turn or so should also keep the engine running until it has warmed up.

Judicious use of the choke lever when cold , bring the choke slides up as soon as the motor feels some warmth.
