Oh, sorry, you got that one wrong: I was making fun of the fact that the tank builders use epoxy - not that you explained why they do. I have an old RGM tank myself with a glued-on cap and IMHO this is simple bodge job approach. With E-fuels it's doomed anyway. In order to make use of the thread you'd have to take far more effort. Madass already mentioned that the filler neck gets distorted as well and if you want to align the tank cap so that the opening direction isn't at some random orientation you'd have to find a way to lock the cap on its thread. Can be done but stirring a bit of epoxy it obviously far quicker.
