850 Norton timming with 560 NR cam

Not sure about that cam but my 850 with the 2S profile cam and other work I just static time it normal and once fired up I will advance it till I get a slight kick back when kicking then retard it ever so slightly till no kick back, been doing it this way most of the 48+ years of owning my Norton, works for me, I also run a Joe Hunt magneto the last 13+ years or so, some change the degrees on the timing for the cam but mine runs pretty good doing what I been doing without any misfire and first kick every time.
My hot 850 is built for better performance, reliability and road use and was built like this in 1980/82, has never let me down but it depends on your ignition set up and carbs as well.

Mmmmm, Hignition , pends on the Gas 7 C.R. . But they have a fit if you mention 31 B T D C , and 27 is to slow . So 29 , and if it throws you , back it off . If it wont light up the rear , throw it Forward . ;)

What Yr wanna watch is , lugging it & small openings , around 25 / 28-00 , Where you can get a bit of rattle , detonation , pre ignition . So the adept tester wears a free earing open face lid , ascertaining
if all isin order .
 
0.013 ex 0.013 intake. Valve Tappet clearance.
Nothing else changes as per work shop manual. It is very close to a stock cam but with 28 tpi at the cam thread for EI. Most EI give you both to choose from. 26 or 28 tpi.

I used this cam for 80k miles in my 850 commando.

I am going to a 2S on my rebuild.
Nothing against this cam you are using. It is a good cam.
I just have a NOS 2S at my disposal for my rebuild. My 560 NR just wore out. after 80 thou Miles . Shyt happens.
Hope you get the same mileage on yours.

Cam timing figures were included in my answer to your earlier question on this (see below).

If you’re referring to ign timing, use the stock figure. You can experiment with small changes on the dyno, but I’ll eat my hat if you see any meaningful measurable improvement from changing.
