Mini Mo, I grew up just a few miles north of you in Camarillo. My favorite ride on my CB350 was to take Malibu Canyon road out to where Pepperdine is, go right on the PCH out past Mugu Rock then back to town through the farm country. Great little ride, especially on a Norton where you can just roll into the torque going up and over the hill.

I had one of those, I was probably out there with you! Yeah, PCH past Neptunes Net and over to Los Posas rd. For me it was back up through Potrero rd past the old Camarilo State hospital and home. Great riding areas around here, all within a few miles. How long ago did you live in Camarillo?

I left Camarillo in the mid-70s. I used to ride all the backroads and canyons around that area, great day rides. You'll really enjoy the Commando on those roads.

You may want to upgrade the front brake though. A lot of guys on this site, myself included, have resleeved the front master cyclinder to a 13mm bore and installed a braided stainless brake line. That along with a set of new pads should give you more control and confidence on the downhill parts of the canyon roads.

Vintage Brake in Sonora, CA did my master cylinder, I think that Phil Radford of Fair Spares in San Jose also does this. Both do very good work. I also got my pads from Vintage Brake, they are Ferodo pads and are targeted for good initial bite rather than all out racing performance.

Hey, when you got it the front disc matched the paint job, but now it doesn't. Seriously, nice job!

Thanks. I used phosphoric acid slightly diluted with water to remove all the rust on that rotor. Never touched it with sandpaper. In fact I used it on a CB750 with quite a bit of rust on the exhaust. It removed all of it without damaging the chrome. Same for painted areas. I think I heard about the acid here on the forum
