8 stroking

You gutta WRING IT'S NECK!

Blow the carbon outta the old bitch!!
I'm guessing your comment above to me in post #17 was meant for MikeG. MikeG said what is shown below, but you messed up the cutting and pasting in the quote process and it looks like I said it. I've done it several times when quoting, but usually catch it. Actually, I usually delete most of what I respond to and go get some work done. lol

My problem is, I usually think most other people know as much as myself. When I ride my motorcycle, I know immediately if it is jetted too rich or too lean, from what it does. It comes from a mispent childhood.
If the motor is sluggish, it is too rich. If it misses, it is too lean, or has an electrical problem.
If your bike accelerates much faster in really cold weather, it is probably jetted too rich for normal weather.

Still baffled as to why, if that cylinder is not firing all the time, its not blacker than it is.
To my mind when a cylinder / plug is running black then there is either an excess of fuel and or oil ……. or …..
there is a lack of spark.

If the plug looks clean then surely it has to be a lack of fuel.

8 stroking ? Well if only one cylinder fires properly and the other not or just occasionally then that may well imitate the 8 stroke effect ?

Rectum noise ? Maybe ? Just how it seems to me.

I tried...
couldn't fixit
Figgured you are all clever lads, you'd figger it out... you did

Mine started to run funny after having tank off , it was just off idle 1 ½ cylinders , i found my cable wasnt happy where i had it, and it had gone out of sync , rerouted cable and synced , sounds better already .

That plug looks to be white on ground strap? Over lean?

When you checked carbs, did you get a good spray of cleaner/wd40 etc up through the idle jets in carb air filter end of throat floor, before/after throttle slide?

What is mix screw at compared to good side?

How is condition, sealing of the inlet manifold balance pipe?

One jet assembly dropped down into the bowl last summer for me . Now that was one rich running carb until club help 150 Kms. away towards home .

As we know removing the air filter will upset/change the fuel to air ratio... making the engine run slightly leaner and possibly ?..better/worse when it gets to full operating temperature ...I'd be stripping that carb and doing a full orifice examination 💩

I've cleared obstructions before in different vehicles by completly choking the carburetor off with your hand with the engine running with a few revs up...it don't always work ...but its worth a go...🤠 Cowboy tune up
Rev to the moon , Hand over the carb , isn't that the standard mower carb rebuild , not very exciting working on mowers 😒 .

Using vacuum from the engine and my fat hand on twin choke side draft Dellorto's
Outboard motors and the like..all with success...dont under estimate a lawn mower carburetors potential...😉

So we can look forward to either a twin side draft or down draft , mower carb conversion on your commando soon 😗 , think of the miles per gallon ! . 🤣🤣 and ease of cleaning. Actually I've done the hand on carb thing heaps , engine vac to suck the shit out , works good .

I'm very happy with the Keihen's thanks😉
A old army engineer mate of mine stuck a twin choke side draft on his 920 years ago...it run real well ...he had some jewelers drill bits to tune in his jetting as bits for them at the time were hard to get hold of.

Issue was electrical. Its an Old Britts Power Arc ignition, which calls for resistor wires and plugs. One wire showed far more resistance than the other. The one with low resistance was the side that was skipping and looked too lean.

re filling a car's gas tank is NO way to measure fuel burned. If he had done it with a calibrated one gallon can and run it until it was out of gas it would have been more precise.

I posted the video to show with a few modifications you can get a lawn mower carb to make a V8 run...I'd prefer a 4 barrel to do that job.. and I took no notice of any claim of fuel economy or efficiency
