Simple question... I hope.
What is the correct rear chain length for a 750 with standard 19 tooth sprocket?
I have just fitted new rear brake shoes and am finding that with my chain correctly adjusted I am right at the end of the rear brake adjuster. My 750 is currently fitted with a 99 link standard chain that seems fine, in that stretch is only .25 inch over the whole length.
I am considering a 98 link chain but have not managed to find any factory tables showing sprocket teeth vs number of chain links.

'1973' Parts book:
"Rear Chain...98 links (for 19 tooth sprocket)"
...."99 links (for 21 tooth sprocket)"
A chain with an odd number of links must contain a half-link.
Depending on which way the half-link is attached, if attached the "wrong" way then with the cranked section removed the chain will have 98 links.

Thanks for quick reply, unfortunately my chain is ‘right’.
Annoyingly, I had just degreased it and plutoline waxed it as well.

He just said you should have a 98 and you said you have a 99. Remove the half link and try it.

SteveC said the half-link is fitted the "Right" way so removal of the half-link would mean removing three links.
