Hi Guys. Just wanted to share with you what happens when my wife is out of town and I've had one too many whiskies... I bought this last night and will be going to pick it up next week. I've never had a Ducati, but this one is completely overhauled and ready to go. I think it's damn sexy.

they are a horrible lump . I would be happy to relive you of if before you get dissapointed in it  you better hope it has an EI as maintaining the points is a PITA .

PS I do have the tool to mount a degree wheel in the crank to set it up.

Thank Bill. It does have Electronic ignition. Incidentally, I am getting boxes full of stock parts and tools which include the degree wheel and crank. This 1974 was completely overhauled in 2012 and I'm buying from the second owner who's had it since 1980. I think it's damn sexy and I can't wait.

A Duck with bevel heads - way cool!
The overall restoration looks very clean, and faithful to the original look.

Thanks guys. He said that he "Refurbished" it vs restored. He wanted to make it more reliable, better handling, better electrics, etc. It can be made stock fairly easily, but I love the modest customizations. It reminds me of some of Colorado Norton Works stuff. It even has a Brembo hydraulic clutch like CNWs. Hey, I think I got a great deal on it and I've always wanted a Ducati Bevel. (And my wife likes it and approves) so I figured what the heck... I'll give it a go. Now I have to find a way to get to Columbus Ohio next week to pick it up. These roundcase bevels are going to continue to appreciate in value. I just got it because I liked the look of it. :)

When I was 17 years old and a new 74 Commando my best mate had a early 70s Ducati 750 GT it had Amal carbies fitted from the factory, we rode very hard together, he couldn't beat me and I couldn't beat him the both bikes where such a match in performance, have some great memories riding together, we were best mates all our life's since the first day of school till his death a few years ago, I have a pic on the wall in my shed with his Ducati and my Norton together on top of a mountain range we use to race each other down but I had ran out of petrol, I forgot I had both fuel taps on so I could get more fuel into my carbies to get in front of him.

So you have a great bike there, not sure what year my mate's Duc was 1972 model with Amal carbies and fibreglass tank, anyway yours looks great and have fun with it.

Hey Ashley, that's a great story! I'd love to see that pic!

the bad news is IF you need parts they are almost unobtainium and expensive when you find them. they round case is a wonderful bike to ride, the longer and faster the road the better as it is very smooth with exultant handling. I have had 2 750 sports and a 900 dharma.

at that time the only desmo twin was the very rare and expensive 750SS

Is it a Desmo or a valve spring motor?

Well, at least that monkey-motion doesn't have to be dealt with. Who cares about that last 10% of extra performance in an old bike? (Wait, I forgot what forum I was posting on!)

I met a guy in Springfield, MO with a large stash of Duc / desmo bikes & parts. Yes, pricey, to say the least.

Nice bike enjoy the hell out of it. The Vintage Forum on Ducati.MS is a good resource

The Bevelheaven forum is too complicated. Too many sections.

I need to try Ducati.MS again.

Hi Johnny
The pic was taken in 1978 round abouts and with a cheap camera but I will see if I can take a pic of the pic and see if it turns out before posting it here, it's great pic and where it was taken up on the range you can see the ocean in the distant and the begining of Moreten Bay where the shipping has to enter for the port of Brisbane.

Well I got her home and I can safely say that this bike is in pristine condition. Everything is practically perfect. The paint on the front fender has cracked though. I'm wondering if a paint guy could put a couple laters of clear coat on it to seal it up. Took the seat off and there isn't even a spot of grease or dirt. I am very impressed by the custom wiring harness too.

I'm looking forward to the rain stopping so I can actually take it for a spin.... but it looks sexy in the garage!!!
