Hi everyone.
I am restoring a Norton commando S type. The previous owner was making some changes so I am trying to put it back to stock. The bike came fitted with new alloy rims both 18x2.15 and Avon Super venom 110/90 front and 120/90 rear. The tyres were never used but are more than 8 years old so will need replacement. Also in terms of handling the 110/90 in the front seems massive comparing with the original measure.
What tyres would you guys recommend fitting in this situation knowing that the bike originally had the 19 inch wheels?

Thank you very much!
Cheers

Dunlop and Avon do 19 inch tyres with classic tread patterns and modern compounds and construction. Ideal if you’re wanting something closer to original:

Hi Eddie
Thanks I am aware but my question is what to use for the 18inch ones on the bike and also if using the 18 inch on the front will compromise the handling. I really would like to avvoid changing thouse rims!

Bridgestone BT 46 F 90/90 -18 is probably the best front tire you can get.
It is also 500gr lighter than a comparable Avon.

90/90 is a front tire.
Rear 100/90 or max 110/90 on that rim.
BT 46 rear is also an excellent choice, but imo a 2.15 rear rim is too narrow.
If you do change the rim, I would go to WM 4 (or 3.00)

Thanks Ludwig
I will look into thouse you mentioned.
I think I will go tonthe slimmer option for the rear as well to keep the handling as close to the original as I possibly can!

To expand on this a little. I noticed that they changed the minimum rim width when going from BT 45 to BT 46 on the 100/90-19. Didn’t look at other tire sizes, but found it interesting.
