anyone can tell if the stays of the front mudguard of the Commando S year 1970 are in chrome or in silver paint? Or alternatively in black (as the early Fastback)
Thanks for helping!

Ciao, Lorenzo. I owned an "S" (about 450 serial numbers after the published first one), built in 1969, and a Roadster built in 1970. In the theoretical world of Commando serial numbers*, the "S" was built from March, 1969 to March, 1970 and the Roadster began production as the "S" finished. In my memory -- and note this is 50 years later, and my memory is pretty much first in the long list of things that have become unreliable as I've become older -- the front fender/mudguard stays for the "S" and at least that first year's production of the Roadster were indeed chromed. My '72 had painted stays.

(* For every known fact about Commando production numbers, series, timing, there is a known fact of an exception. If we're talking about production and specs, every sentence should contain the word "mostly" or "probably".)

According to the parts book, yes.

The 'S' front mudguard had a reduced radius ('short' stays and 3.00 - 19 tyre) to prevent it hitting the 'S' type exhaust under heavy braking.

thank you! your links are very useful.
I don't find these links if I just browse in the drawing selection by model..

you mean the 3.60-19 K81 is not fitting under this fender?

last question: do you know if there's a complete kit for the S headlamp support ring or should I get each part separately?

Also the rear fender is unique to both ‘69 and ‘70 750 S and likely ‘70 Roadster. Chrome and an indention for a tire pump. Tail light fairing is silver metal flake. I have two of these, Mar ‘69 and Dec ‘69.

Hi.
Tail light is silver metal flake if the bike is metalflae, black if not.

There are actually 2 types of rear mudguards for the 'S' models. One mounts with a bracket under the shock mount tops, and the other mounts off a plate attached to the web under the rear of the large main tube. I've never seen a part number for the bracket type, like mine, APR 69 stamp. The 71 mudguards will fit, but you will have to drill holes and of course the indent for the tyre pump is not there, plus the S type rear mudguards have a C section, the later ones have a D section.

Notice too, the bridge on the front mudguard is shorter than the later models, like the stays.
