Are there good motorcycle roads between Winnipeg and Lumby ? I see that the Trans Canada goes that way, but hammering down the four lane, dodging lumbering semi and avoiding speeding Quebecois for three days does not seem like a lot of fun. I avoid the Interstates when on the road. Has anyone been out Route 1 ? How is it ?

Thanks

Greg

hi its boring going across but when you get to alberta grab the # 3 to lumby there are some just grate roads there john

Winnipeg to the Alberta border is pretty much a boring straight line unless you've never experienced driving through the pariaries then it will be a new but still rather boring experience. I'll hit the # 3 at Lethbridge after deviating from the #1. The #3 or Crows Nest pass is very nice. #1 is still good bit rather boring until you leave Calgary. From Calgary to Banff is nice, even the old Coach Banff highway is cool and twisty. Mostly single lane so when a motorhome comes whipping around the corner things get interesting. I used to blast the old Coach road on my hopped up VW Golf when I lived in Calgary.

Like I mentioned in the other thread, if your passing through Regina hit me up for a beer since I've got plenty. I've got a garage and tools if you need any assistance or need to tweak your bike a bit.

Do you know what dates your coming through here? I'm going to Lumby as well but just for the last Saturday.

I think that it will be Tuesday before we get that far. We won't get out of Minneapolis until Sunday afternoon. The guy I'm riding with teaches a Motorcyle Safety Foundation class that morning.

I doubt that we will get to Winnipeg until Monday. It looks like it is 500 miles across Manitoba, 1100 across Saskatchewan, another 500 across Alberta,... How long will it take you to get to Lumby from Regina ?
