I have a Comstock H/S with adjustable iso mounts...I have minimal vibes below 3000 rpm and above is very smooth.
As do I, and I like it a lot. After installing it I noticed an audible buzz at 2500 rpm that turned out to be the steady just touching the bottom of my Roadster tank. I raised the tank up a hair with new rubber pads and that went away. Everything about the handling on my bike improved over the stock HS.

I have all types, except the Dave Taylor. The PR/ Norvil type was on the 750 starting late 70's. After having new side plates made to accommodate a Combat shaved head, the difference in handling was amazing.
The 850 has Jim's unit, no excessive vibes.
Both were installed on OEM non-vernier ISO's without any attending adjustments.
Waiting to see what difference the RGM vernier ISO's will introduce when I get around to that.

Steadfast Cycles is selling the Old Britts unit currently, although the price went up dramatically after I bought the first one on ebay.

When I initially fitted it (which was like a glove).. I backed off to two top mounting fasteners and moved the connected alloy plate to where it sat basically in its middle/neutral position
(Bike off its stand under its own weight.) Hope that helps...
Shane,
I loosened the 2 bolts that attach the unit to the frame then moved the attached piece front to back and tightened the bolts up at the point that the ball joints rocked back and forth with the least resistance.Me sitting on the bike.Is that correct? They swivel very nicely.
Thanks again,
Mike

The head steady was strengthened (by making it a box section) because the earlier plate steady would often fracture but the same rubber mounts were used so the box steady assembly must flex as much.
The suspensory spring wasn't added until the 850 Mk3 ('1975').
My Mk2a came with the suspensory spring which I transferred to my Dave Taylor. I am thinking about going back to the stock unit as I reassemble my bike as I don’t like the tube clamp. It seems to me that the DT could be better attached by using the hole in the frame above it with a bit of fabrication similar to the cNw unit.
