Hmmm... the ‘right’ money... they seem to hold their value really well here in the U.K. maybe there’s not many of them here? And they’ve kinda got a ‘classic’ status attached to them.

Having said that, there are 3 for sale here in the U.K. at present, which is a tad unusual, all within £500 or so of each other. One of them stands out though, it’s been owned by private collector from new, is factory stock, and has done less than 900 miles... Tempted? You bet!

Longer shocks are apparently the done thing to give a little more lean angle.

I don’t like the over loud pipes some Harley-ista use, but I’d want it to sound ’nice’ and I’d also want one that did not limit lean angle (the folding footpeg should be the first thing to touch down IMHO). If anyone has any experience of a good exhaust fit for this, please let me know...

Well, I got to quite liking the 107 Sport Glide. But ground clearence was an issue and I wasn’t 100% sure I need such long distance comfort.
So I started looking at the Softail Low Rider S. A bit less tourer and a bit more hot rod.
Then got to thinking how it was a kinda poor relation to the original Dyna Low Rider S.
Then got to looking more at the older Dyna Low Rider S and really started liking the old skool 2 valve air cooled twin cam motor... especially in 110 Screaming Eagle format! The better ground clearance, the twin discs with 4 pot calipers, and basically the simple hot-rod-ness of it all.

They finally got the Dyna right and then finished the line. These ones are really sought after as the later suspension is not as popular

And I can see why, the new Softail Low Rider S looks like a poor Japanese copy of the original Dyna! I’m no HD expert, so arrived at this conclusion in reverse by looking at the new ones first, thinking they were a bit shit, then looking at the originals !

However, the new ones are a lot more refined, and are very capable motorcyles.
 
20 yrs ago I had a Road King & really enjoyed it. However 20 yrs ago 800 pounds didn't weigh as much as it does now.
I am surprised no one has mentioned the XLCR (extra large cafe racer)

I’d definitely struggle getting that in and out of my shed.

Actually, if I had something like that I don’t think my shed would be an issue...

I’d be living in the sidecar, along with my divorce papers...!

I've always liked them too. Not an expert on them but i believe just a sportster motor from the day in cafe style running gear. So no better or worse than an average Harley of that age. Harley guys mostly didn't buy them because of the styling and everyone else didn't buy them because they were a bit heavy and slow for a sports bike. All of which makes them a bit rare.

Anyway, I’ve got more than my fair share of cafe racers... that I can’t ride for more that 40-50 miles without a break, so I ain’t buying a Harley cafe racer !

I think I’m set on the 110 Screaming Eagle Dhna Low Rider S idea actually...

I'd highly recommend a Low Rider S, I've had mine for around 2 years, Didnt enjoy the newer Soft tail bikes, felt they were a bit sloppy.
Just went ahead and found a low mileage bike, Exhaust, Tune, Ohlins Front and rear, with Galfer brakes, and Spluthe Stabiliser and a memory foam seat. Rides sweet, Good handling for a heavy bike, 800 mile weekend trips feel way better than my Bonnie.

And WTF is a Spluthe Stabiliser? Sounds like something off of the Starship Enterprise !!

The only Dyna chassis I’ve ridden have been tourers (Street Glide and Road King). Is the Sputhe a ‘must have’ on the LRS ?

Not really a must have, but it does help with high speed cornering wobbles. They're straight line highway bikes lol
Front forks have Ohlins NIX 30mm cartridges, and the rears are 13.2" with reservoirs.
