Where do you go?

With warmer weather coming here in the northern hemisphere and the lockdown on the downhill side, I’m jonesing for some riding in the mountains. A few times a year I trailer two bikes about 5 hours north to the Mad River Valley area of Vermont where my wife’s late father had the foresight to buy a ski condo. The roads are great and the scenery is gorgeous, especially in leaf season. This year I get to ride the area on a Commando for the first time and can’t wait. I think I’ll take my Yamaha 500 single also. Unless my wife wants to do some cruising in which case I’ll take the /5 with panniers.

Where do you go to get away?

In small town Nova Scotia , can head out from my home and be on great secondary roads in a couple of minutes, really .... usually mix it up some and alternate the direction I head , for me generally over North or West of my town provide most interesting rides .... without having to ride any big highway ..... more back roads here than I will be able to ride in my lifetime .... oh yeah , should mention very little level ground or straight road anywhere ... some twinned highway but not much , just some done between major for us centres ...

We used to live in Laredo, TX on the Mexico border at the South end of I-35, with the nearest good riding over 150 miles away in the Texas hill country around Camp Wood & Leakey (google "three sisters", 335, 336 & 337).

Last year we moved up to Leander, (north of Austin), right in the heart of GREAT riding. I live 5 minutes from 1431 to the south, and "Nameless Road" to the north, either one heading right into the hills.
