A seller’s refusal does not make the article worth more than the buyer’s offer. The determining factor for value is the sale price.

I was thinking the same with ID label missing from the front of the frame. Check the system before putting any money in it.How do you know it's not a stolen bike?
I know this has been batted around before, but without paperwork (title) the value drops significantly for most of us. If you can get a clean title for it, that means a lot. Otherwise it is valuable only as parts.
I know there are states where titles are not that important or difficult to obtain for abandoned vehicles, but in many that is not the case.
Chances are, there are numbers stamped on the steering neck that probably match the numbers on the motor and trans.
You sell that bike to someone who tries to register/insure it and guess what? If it was stolen - your ignorance of that fact will make the judge smile while he explains to you the trouble you're in.
Plus - how to feel about bike thieves? You have a Harley?
If you, or your dads Harley was stolen 20 years ago, wouldn't you love to have that back?

I'm having a little trouble following this train of thought . . .But if it was stolen and the ins paid out on it 20 years ago and the last owner cant be found or is deceased then the ins company can write off on the bike and you can get a title so i have read i or no one i know has done this and there is the chance that they do find the previous owner and he wants it back
2k tops, it only needs everything. I don't see it cleaning up into a runner without considerable expense either.
Yup I would do a title search locally and see what the office says . You need clear paperwork on this before selling or restoring a potentially stolen vehicle. How do you know it's not a stolen bike?
