Honestly, I'm the kind of person who rebuilds everything I own... IMO, if you can't seal your tank easily, then why not buy a tank like I did from ebay. My roadster tank doesn't hold as much gas as I want because I don't put ethanol fuel in it, so I have to stay local to my non-E gas source. My solution was to buy an unfinished "interstate" tank on ebay (from india) It cost me $154. and that included shipping. Granted that I'm a maniac and don't mind spending my free time working on projects, but you could swap the petcocks and cap over from your existing tank, then paint the new tank with some epoxy paint (I learned this is best on my latest project) and call it good for $154. It won't be beautiful, but it will work better than a tank with a hole in it.

Here's the link to the thread where a few people who bought this tank commented on it:

I would get some "Evaporust" and let it sit in it for a for a few days, then drain and fill with phosphoric acid. Then seal with redkote or caswell. Evaporust is not very harsh and does a very good job. I just did this with an Atlas tank. Worked great. (But it is messy and a pain in the ass).
