I have amal premiers on both my bikes and love em, low maintenance and good performance. All i have to compare with is old style amals though, and yes they used to be crap. So far over 10k on my mk3 with no problems. When / if they wear out i will try Jims carbs.
Amals correctly set up work fine on a Norton. Basic instruments, that can at times be frustrating, that at least is my experience. Not to say Keihins are not beautiful carbs, I have one on my KTM and 2 on my NortonSeeley. They still require mechanical setup to get the best as do all carbs. Just takes a little experimentation to finally ‘get it’ with any of these instruments. Once you do it’s a doddle.
