What’s the best none Norton Norton ?

I often thought what would a modern motorcycle look like if it crashed on another planet where motorcycles had never been invented. With all of its component parts broken, bent and twisted beyond recognition, how would the resident species on that planet attempt to reassemble the wreckage?
I think the result would closely resemble the MT10

If we ever meet mate, I owe you a big cold beer. Priceless! I of course will be sending a screen shot of this post to my MT10 riding mates as proof positive, that people around the world share my view of the flying wheelie bin! I'll let you know their response, if it is printable! Very funny.

Steve, I think that’s disrespectful... to wheelie bins...!

I agree with the comments about power rangers, and even Harley’s. I often find myself looking at Harley’s thinking ‘maybe...’ but have so far always walked away, mainly cos of the weight of the things.

And that was, or course, a big pull for me about the 961, it was one of the few new bikes on offer that actually looked like a bike I’d like to own.

But at least my current Ducati is called a ‘monster’ and is painted in battleship grey, so it’s not even trying to pretend to look pretty. It it were a teenage girl I guess it’d be a goth...!

Not sure what the legislation is in the US, but I'm guessing if it's new it might well be electric..

Mmmmmm! I've always had the same problem with Harleys. Don't get me wrong, there are models that I quite like; I am drawn to a tastefully moded VROD for example but could never accept the weight penalty. Perfectly happy though to accept that other people view them as their perfect bike. For me thats what is so awesome about bikes. Ride what you like, go for your life! I'm of an age now though where a Harley would definitely appear less cool and more midlife crisis!!!

Had one once years ago, long story but don’t tell anyone...
Had to do all overtaking after the corner and never before!!
It was an ex. American police persuit glide
An oxymoron if ever there was one.

Is this about the best non Norton in the idiom of Norton or the best non Norton as a first bike because everyone must have a main bike, don’t they!

That’s just it isn’t it Nigel a main bike , this spring with the “Covid” and mass shooting here , I was to say the least distracted , before I had all 3 of mine on road , I went out and got another project (ct90) .... to complicate things my wife has long list of outdoor , mostly, of improvements to our 1/2acre of intensely manicured/planted property , trying to get all the outdoor gear ready , the bikes, the car and jeep cleaned up , just no time to think , just try and get an item ticked off list , was thinking this year I would use Griso as main ride , so for some reason spent 3 days doing big service to the Ducati , the Norton services and ready , though waiting on gearbox drain plug as I’m going to trash the one in there getting it out .... so 2 bikes standing ready and doubt I have added more than 1000 kms in total , starting to get flack from wife as she thinks I hide in shed when I should be working off my list , yikes ! .... do I wish for normal living soonest .... I think a Harley xl 1200 R roadster from ‘07 -08 could be a candidate for question , but still even it is heavy , checks most of others boxes though ...

Ah Craig the age old problem of competing priorities, noting that a bike enthusiast‘s priorities will always be different to those of ‘she of higher authority’. You have to think like the enemy mate and attempt to outwit her! Tackle those low hanging fruit (easy jobs) and get back to your Norton. Take faulty(?) household items to the garage for ‘repair’, wink wink! Spend (very little) time assembling the resources to do the big jobs, leave them generally lying around for her to see and get back into the garage! Then, when the pressure really starts to build, feign a back injury! “Oh love, could’nt possibly, my back is killing me!’’ Very difficult to disprove. ‘Rinse and repeat’ until she throws in the towel and hires a professional! Job done, with only minimal time spent away from your bikes. You may even get a bit of free sympathy thrown in for those repeated injuries after all, you’re not as young as you used to be!

Has this worked for me..............? Not a f#^&#g chance! The Fuhrer sees through these tactics in an instant and the repercussions are swift and severe! So, whatever you do, don’t take marital advice from me! And while we‘re at it, get on with those household chores you lazy bugger! ;)

What about the Kawasaki W800 twin?? It's new and looks old.))

Kawasaki did a great job aesthetically on the W650/800.
They failed to advertise/promote the model here in the USA though.

A guy in my neighborhood had a W650 a few years ago.
Used to see him riding around several times a week.
Definitely neat "britbike" styling, with Kawasaki reliability.

Probably not in the theme of this thread, but a pretty cool (IMO) resto mod one off on BAT...

Wow, some really cool engineering done there:
Trailing link front suspension
Rear mono-shock suspension
Left side final drive for modern Hinckley twin

With a chassis and body work that looks like it was manufactured before WW I.

Great stuff!

don’t see no rear suspension...

Brought this home from the Triumph dealer yesterday. I originally ordered this last October or so then ended up canceling because I decided to get the 2020 Ducati Diavel 1260S instead.
When I canceled my order on the bobber that put the next guy in line for it.
Well, the other day I was snooping around on the Triumph dealers website and I ran across the Bobber I ordered, the guy that was gonna get it after I backed out declined it as well because he Went with the Rocket 3 instead. I called the dealer and was told the prior day triumph found another buyer but my dealer gave me first choice so I took it.
It’s actually comfortable and runs very strong.
2020 Triumph Bobber TFC.

There used to be one in my neighborhood as well. Would walk past it on my way to work. North Brooklyn per chance?
