Vintage Brit Bike Repair Channel Asking for Norton Help....

No, the one that the top comes off have slots under (inside) the oil control ring that goes half way around the piston. These shown do not. That said only the combat engines suffered failure with the slotted pistons all Altas and pre combat 750 Commandos came with slotted pistons with no issue.
Sorry I didn't explain it very well
I meant the ones in the video only" look "like the type that the heads fall off but they are not
And as I said the slot is behind the oil control ring

Ah..got it. Interesting though that the not recommended pistons were the standard for Atlas and early Commando.

I do wonder about the pistons in the video
As they don't have the slot or the drillings to allow the oil behind the oil control rings

One shouldn't use the slotted pistons. I had the head come off an Atlas piston on a long trip and it was a major inconvenience though no serious damage was done other than the piston. I may have helped the failure along by aggressive use of the ring groove cleaner when I did a ring job sometime previously.
