Valve adjustment question.

Seems most/everyone except TT are missing the important characteristic of the 2S cam.
The RAMPS!

If you set the clearance tighter it has a very big effect on duration degrees, though not effective lift is less so. Opens way early and closes way late.
When a few tho too big the duration degrees increase is almost negligable.
A"combat" is a specific list of components and any one item different or missing make is other than a real factory combat. IMO

If a cam requires 10 thou clearance because of ramps and you only give it 1 thou, it must put the exhaust valve at risk of burning, because of combustion pressure being forced through a tiny gap between valve and seat, partway down the power stroke and because of the valve spending less time on the seat getting its heat conducted away.

Sure and of course the exhaust would start to open maybe 20 degrees early with said high pressure exhaust. Then it would close 20 degrees late...deep into the intake cycle.

I set the valves to standard. It's finally running right.

Fast Eddie, I'll think of you the next time I go to Fast Eddies in Alton, Illinois. I'm staying away from about everywhere, until this effing mask crap is over. People have gone insane.

Thanks again for all the replies.

Oh yeah, dynodave good luck with your conversation with triton thrasher, we've conversed on the triumph rat forum.
