Well, if we’re discussing what we PREFER, I’m with you 100% !
Hence why I was reluctant to exchange my NA car for the newer, smaller capacity, FI version !
Sadly though, the newer one is just better…

Look at the Superlight, it’s not actually very much lighter than the 1200.
So, adding FI to the Superlight gets its power close to the 1200… but I believe the weight would also then be close to the 1200. So it really undermined the whole concept of being a Superlight!
And it was much more expensive than the 1200.
I just can’t work out who would buy them over a 1200 or why (apart from a handful of collectors)?
My thinking is that argument could basically be applied to all manufactures offerings.
So unless manufacturers believe there is viable market for 300bhp 1000s / 1200s then I doubt we’re gonna see forced induction going mainstream on bikes.

The general public are now waking up to the fact that 1000cc+ bikes with some in excess of 200 horse does not make a sensible or use able road bike,
To then fit electronic gadgetry to make them rideable, or even (safe) for Jo Soap to use on public roads, all at extra weight, and extra cost
It's crazy in my view,??
Good to see the manufactures starting to wake up and are bringing some excellent road bikes to the table,
Aprilia, Triumph, Yamaha, MV's, KTM....
It has taken a long time for people and manufactures to wake up, and stop playing the bragging numbers game, IMO
My next bikepurchase is going to be, wait for it

It’s worse than that IMHO…
Folk are saying more and more that these bikes are unusable on the road.
But… with the odd exception (the top 1% of riders and the fastest tracks) they’re not much more usable on the bloody track either !!
That is something even crystal balls can't predict. There is no logic as to what would be a good seller or not. RE Meteor for example, sells like hot cakes so it must have charm and appeal for a lot buyers.
I remember the SV650 getting slated when it was released, the rest is history.

If they are going for the sport bike market, there's a lot of competition there. Does the world need another sport bike?
Cafe Racers seem to be hot. Why not something along those lines. Or make a better 961 at lower cost (with emphasis on better and lower cost).

At the German GP the motor3 bikes with a single cylinder 250cc engine with about 75 hp were only 6 seconds or so slower than a 300hp V4s full blown MotoGP bikes!!
So I challenge all you dreamers out there to convince me
YOU need 200 horse on the road

Remember it wasn't the drop dead gorgeous 916 Ducati that saved Ducati from bankruptcy,
It just one race's and hearts.
It was their cheapest, least powerful and the slowest bike in the stable, and still in production 30 years later.
Now I think it's the Scrambler that's the top seller,
Same, slowest, least powerful, cheapest,
Norton would be wise to copy marketing strategy and get the Atlas
Range to market as soon as.

I think it’s 3 1/2 years since I paced the order… how slow dya wanna go…?
I just want them to make the bloody thing, that’s all !
However, I want them to do it differently to how they did the V4. TVS‘s input has made the V4 less powerful and much more expensive. If they do that with the Superlight then I’m out !

The people that put down a deposit on their 961s ended up getting a pig in a poke,
The people who put a deposit on SLs and Nomad's actually only put a deposit on a poke!

‘Fault’ is a strange word in this context, and not one that I used. However, as it is they who are selling the bike, I can’t see how it’s anyones else's ‘fault’ !?
All I mean is that Norton now offer a V4 that is considerably down on (claimed) power and is 50% more expensive than before. That’s not progress in the eyes of the customer John !
The Superlight actually wasn’t all that super light in reality, with the race pipe it almost got decent power, and at under £20k it wasn’t in the ridiculously exotic league.
If TVS can match or improve on those claimed power and weight figures AND keep within the original price then I’ll have one, and I suspect so will quite a few others.
However, if they offer something thats got less power, more weight and costs 50% more, then I’m out… irrespective of who’s ‘fault’ it is !

After having now had first hand experience of travelling on the continent thing are not like they used to be.
Speed cameras everywhere no matter what country. Gantry, average speed,tunnels,the post type camera at the side of the road.
In Holland a five lane motorway,sixty miles per hour. Deserted.
Don’t think that they are just for safety but could be for pollution as well!!!

May I suggest you buy an Aprilia RS 660 while you wait? Eddie.
Then you will have something to compare the SL with when it does arrive.
But I don't think TVS is going to produce the bike you're looking for,
for the price you want to pay!
Their badge is prestige and for that you're gonna have to pay!

I'm on the other hand in no rush, slow is good for me,
4& half years till my 65th.
