A bit of a definitive (and interesting) interpretation there MN. They are clearly referencing this bike as inspired by Norton‘s racing pedigree, developed during racing at the TT - rightly or wrongly, depending on your interpretation. Lots of reference in the material to the heritage and history of the marque.TVS are aiming at a potential owner who couldn't care less about the history. The history to TVS is I think of no interest to them either.
They will definitely be aiming at younger riders also, who may have less of a connection with the marque, although they are far less likely to have funds to purchase; Norton will be well aware of that.
The reference to ‘not many heard of Norton’ @ #130 (above) is likely not accurate IMO. On sale in the UK only, the Norton relaunch and models have been in every motorcycle publication, Blog and Vlog available for a few years now.
Any biker looking to purchase this machine is likely well aware of the marque and its history. Possibly some drawn to it through previous ownership, or a lusting never fulfilled. Looking at performance and exclusivity as well of course.
Unless we think that most prospective owners believe Norton stopped making bikes in the 70’s, or because it doesn’t look like a traditional Norton.
