Depends just what you heat it with.
My local motorcycle empurium would make you cables to order, they use a meths spirit torch to heat the solder.
Unfortunately, it's long gone now.
 
The main problem was the brake shoe slippers :)
Bike is now OK and stopping fine - thank you all

The OP mentioned that English isn't his first language......

Then we have folks, flipping, lobbing and fitting slippers!

I can see that might all present a problem! :oops:

Depends more on how good a job someone did of splaying or flaring the inner wire ends.....

Shit, more of those words.....
