Last week I had notification that a parcel had been delivered to my house by the royal mail
It was small enough to fit through my letterbox so I assumed I'd be there when I got home
But nothing
And nothing on my camera either
Now this parcel was sent recorded delivery
I contacted the seller and he told me it's happening a lot ,and I'll probably receive my parcel a few days after it's been recorded delivered
The post office are scanning parcels as delivered at the depot
This is so they can hit their delivery targets FFS
What a world we live in

Same shit here.

We do not get daily delivery, yet, it's recorded as such.
As we transition to 3rd world

I've had another scenario where they claim attempted delivery at a time when I was home
No card through the door nothing
Then 2 minutes later it's returned to depot 30 miles away!!!
Yeah righto
When I went to collect my parcel and complained they said a lot of our staff are agency and can't speak English
I said why on earth would you hire them then?
No reply
 
yep . One of my favorites is tracking that says your package has been “ shipped “ when in reality the only thing is a label has been created. The item is likely in the same place it was before you ordered it. Oh boy …
 
Beware scammers everywhere pretending to unable to deliver your parcel, click on the app to upgrade your details, like yeah, come in sucker, but people still get caught out.
 
UK is not unique. Similar shit in Sweden too. Many other countries seems to have package issues. Once was informed from a seller in the Netherlands that I could expect long delivery time due to the state of their postal service.
 
I've actually been pretty pleased with US postal service for decades. I especially like Flat Rate boxes & envelopes.

So that they can pay them minimum wage and make more profit for shareholders/managers (and possibly to finance any forthcoming fines & legal costs) possibly?
 
Remember when quarterly profits were considered quite the short term thing? Now they run things by the hour.
Everything is cut to the bone, out source it, send it abroad, ever greater savings and maintain that profit margin.
It is called business in the modern post-industrial democracy.
Quality of service? Bah....the preceding rule.
 
Aus Post has now begun 5 day postal deliveries on a 10 day time frame one week 3 deliveries and the following week 2 deliveries, they are losing money as no one are sending mail these days , their answer, hike up stamp prices, but the parcel deliveries have exploded with online shopping.
It's all about profits and most other delivery services employing non English speaking drivers who don't give a dam how they treat your parcels, throw them over the fence, don't even come in your yard even when the front door is open, I have seen them sign the pad before they throw them over the front fence, at lease the Aus Postal employed drivers and posties will come to the front door if they have a parcel.
I have become good friends with our local postal delivery driver even when he delivering next door we always have a chat and we wave to each other when out and about.
But things have changed from days gone by and not for the better.

Maybe I expect too much of these people
But I've had a petrol tank ran over by them
And a Suzuki gs1000 frame dropped off a tail lift that landed on the headstock
Unfortunately there were no bearings in there so the bearing housing was D shaped
I had a set of Norton big end shell bearings turn up that were almost completely flattened
I had a brand new t160 primary chain go missing and a new stainless mudguard etc etc
In my job everything has to be spot on, examined and signed off
Everything we do !
We even have to sign and date and enter the batch number of the sodding mig wire before welding
So I just assume others are the same and clearly they are not

I think I've only had two or three issues in the past 10 years, and they were minor delays - usually because the normal letter carrier is out sick. I ship everything I can flat-rate.
 
I find the (UK) Royal Mail to be pretty good. It is the courier companies that csn be a bit random. In recent months I have had packages delivered to houses either side of mine, or undelivered for some reason, one time the driver didnt deliver because he was running out of (tachograph) hours...
 
I'm with GMarsh on the USPS Priority Mail. But only in the States. Yeah my carrier must scan stuff and "It's out for delivery" then you don't get it until a day or two later. My carrier is a local resident. "She? has purple hair" and walks with a swager. My buddy said he went to HS with her and she always asks his parents to use their bathroom. His Dad got fed up and told her to take a crap somewhere else. Her name is Liz, but we call her the "Lizzard". Occasionally I will text my buddy and tell him I saw the "Lizzard" taking a shit in the bushes near your parents house . She always drops stuff off to the wrong house, luckily I know all my neighbors. LOL
 
I have got parts sent from the US of A from Joe Hunt, tune up kit first time I just got them to send through normal mail and was at my front door 9 days to Aus, last time I got parts from JH I decided to pay extra for quicker delivery and it took 15 days to arrive, so normal mail was quicker than paying the extra for fast delivery.
I brought a new interstate solo seat with the hump from Burtons British Bikes in England years ago, ordered Thursday night and was at my front door in Aus Wednesday morning, I sent Danny the owner a good thank you email that night.
Have also got quick delivery from RGM to Aus when I was doing a few upgrades on the Norton years ago, I really haven't had any troubles getting parts sent from overseas just using the cheaper/normal mail service.
But then it's been sometime since I needed parts for my Norton.

I've had pretty darned good luck with the U.S. postal service lately and I like the flat rate stuff too....I believe FedEx and UPS were eating their lunch and they had to do something to stay competitive. Cj
