Perhaps it's not the Rocket or the tire that's the issue Bob?

In the dim distant past if one had a fast ( by the standards of those days), sporty bike , the tyre of choice was the Avon GP with a round section and a high hysteresis racing compound rubber. Good for cornering at a high lean angle but not so good for mileage owing to the smallish contact patch. For those bikes not intended for the rider to get their elbows on the ground on the twisty stuff, sidecar outfits and other 3 wheelers, there was the Avon safety mileage type with a square section that gave a higher mileage. Doesn’t your bike fall into that category? I must admit that I am not up to date with modern tyres so none of this may be relevant.

The Avon Cobra is of the dual tread compound design, and a round profile designed for cruisers.
The flat center/beveled sides seen on the worn out carcass are the end of service life results. The Cobra's have provided better results than the Metzelers. (worn out several of each)
They handle amazing AND handle 150 foot pounds of torque.

Some parade speed riders install car tires. Not anything I would do.

I use motorcycle tires designed for the intended purpose.

Pretty sure it gets leaned over further than a cruiser has a right to...

OK, that’s a good answer. I only got 3-5000 miles out of a TT100 on my 750.

My RR2 rear (18") will be replaced next week - just passed 7700 miles. Maybe the constant balance of the counteract beads have helped?
I've noticed it "chirps" on rapid take-off recently (no - it's not the clutch - that's a different noise!)
Still 1mm groove left in the centre.
Cheers
