Someone asked me why I stopped posting any Norton content in this thread let alone any added content at all.

The only reason for this thread was the hope someone might see it and buy a small lathe or mill, that's it.
As posted in the past I am a boilermaker/welder by trade and have no formal training with machine tools, I taught myself over many years to get to an adequate level.
Part of that going back decades was to make tools so jobs could be done in a professional manner, this was based to some degree on British bikes with damage from previous owners that could have been avoided.

The biggest disappointment was people coming to this thread and instead of hitting the back button posted negativity.
I elected in the end to stop wasting my time given my advancing age.
Thats it, there will be no other machining posts but will hope one day someone might find it and be tempted to buy that small lathe or mill.

Nothing happened, after being mucked around for over six months and thousands of dollars nothing came of it, and I mean zero.
My right arm is weak from loss of muscle and have constant neck and head pain.
It is what it is.
Hope you have had some success.

That's a shame, as I for one, really enjoyed what you posted, and am in awe of your self taught skills.

That's a great pity TW, I've always enjoyed your posts and have learnt something from them. I've always wanted a lathe (and preferably a mill as well), but have never had anywhere to keep them. It's a great pity that here in Denmark, one can find evening classes in all sorts of weird and obscure stuff, but nothing in the way of useful "artisan" courses such as welding, machining etc.
Then one reads in the newspapers that companies are crying out for trained labour who can do these things....
Short of taking a fulltime 3 month daytime course (at a very high price to boot), there's nothing available.

Sign of the times I think, but mind you, the School of Architecture & Design where I'm currently working does have very well equipped metal and wood workshops, and they do require the students to learn the basics, but it's no substitute for an apprenticeship.

You were one of the joys of this site mate & I always looked forward to seeing what you were going to do next. I'm running a Pecket & Macnab Rob North & the attention to detail, the lovely little addition, the thought behind what they have done, gives me a delightful bike where everything is easy & I'm one of the ones who did get a lathe & a mill. Your attention to detail is equally superb.
Retirement is all good & I'm looking forward to getting my projects sorted.
