Also consider if any of the bullet connectors might be at fault. They can have the metal connectors crack inside, unseen, and make poor, sporadic connections. Best to replace all with new if in doubt.

Five double-common connectors should occupy less space than the rubber block connector.


I suggest you try running a jumper wire from harness red or the battery positive terminal and connect/touch the other end of the jumper to a rear indicator bulb housing or stem as it is flashing and see if it results in any improvement/slowing of the flash rate.

I wonder if anyone could tell me what voltage I should expect to see passing through the switches. I have the switch block off and as I push the copper strips together to make the connection I have voltage varying from 3 to 8 volts at the switch when the lights flash.

Ok so just to close this out, I took the advice from an earlier post and reinstalled the original flasher unit. It solved the rapid flashing problem. I had been using a new $10 unit but apparently they just aren't right.
