Some clarification on our NYC Norton products: As David says, we don't do the CNC machining in house, but we do all the designs, sketches, prototypes, one-offs, mods, etc. on our manual lathe and mill. The CNC machining is done by a quiet little Polish man located in Brooklyn, who is a genius with the machines. Recently we've started using another machinist out of state for some of our big run stuff, including the reed breather bodies.

Our Rearsets have always been used by our team for racing - the first sets made by me on my lathe and mill. We then worked to adapt them to the Commando. It has ALWAYS been a bit of a very fine fuss to get the rider's comfort, correct peg location for performance, and operational clearance for bulbous primary covers/low-slung Commando exhaust/kick levers - all while retaining the GP shift option. And the reversed knuckle - I have two reversed prototypes on my desk as I type, designed to give much more toe room. Not RGM pieces, but our own design. I spoke with Roger (RGM) about making this an option for his kickers, but he felt the costs to cast new pieces weren't up to the demand. Fair enough. We'll look into making our own, machining them from large chunks of metal. Still working on this one and not ready for prime time yet.

Kenny - I hope I didnt speak out of turn or you didnt get me wrong, I love your parts! Everything I have gotten from you is top notch. It IS just a fine fuss... Like Nigel, I have been through a few sets of shifters and yours are the best quality by far. If it wasnt for my damned injury, all would be gravy.

I would be a test mule for those large chunks of metal. Just sayin'... :D

Well, the latest rearsets passed the road test so I thought I’d tidy them up a bit...

I removed the folding footpeg link, as I’ll not be needing to fold it up out of the way of the kick start. I tucked the pipes in a tad (see other pics below) and shortened the footrest mount spacer accordingly. Next job is to swap out the kick start shaft for a blank / internal spacer (TTI sent me a sketch of the required spacer bless ‘em):

I wanted to tuck the pipes in some more, so tried these nifty little offset silencer mounts from the boys at AN, they’re brilliant! They move the mounts in around 10mm:

And being a bit keen on keeping things nice n symmetrical, I put one on t’other side:

Looking good Nigel!

I know nothing about TTI gearboxes, is there anything you can do to remove the kickstart shaft, maybe make up a nice blanking plug?

You seem to have overlooked my text Grant: “Next job is to swap out the kick start shaft for a blank / internal spacer (TTI sent me a sketch of the required spacer bless ‘em)”

Totally your fault - that’ll teach you for posting bike porn and expecting people to read the text!!!
Last time I typed in the word: 'porn' I got locked out of the forum for a short while! Is this the benefit of membership: Free use of rude words? :-)
